Burrito, Dennis Pasco.
Mission Street, San Francisco. The wide variety of lettering signs
are mostly hand-painted. Made by the painterŐs own skills without
regard for typography. It creates a vernacular that I only associate
with the Mission. Small family-owned stores sell everything from shoes
and clothes to pastries and groceries. Mission Street has a market
feeling to it due to Mexican influence. I tried to capture the variety
of its signs of the stores, markets, restaurants, and bars, whose
rough edges are decorated by Western and Mexican motifs.
